008. Update - friendly doodles

I've been in the mood to draw my friends lately, for some reason. My friends making ugly faces specifically. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I've stopped questioning my weird bouts of inspiration at this point.

here's the outcome )

In unrelated news:
‌• recently watched NigeHaji and it was just as good as people made it out to be, it's right up there with my all-time fave dramas right now. 10/10

• also watched Okitegami Kyouko because I'm in an Aragaki hype right now. The first 2 or 3 eps didn't get to me all that much, BUT from then onwards it was so so good?? Once I got used to the concept it got pretty interesting. The cast is super cute and fluffy too, 10+ points for that. The chemistry between Okada Masaki and Gakki was really nice and his character was so wholesome??? I want me some more male characters like that, Japanese entertainment take notes. Note: bless whoever dresses Gakki in her recent dramas, the aesthetic is on point.

• Paramore's new album After Laughter is so good. It took me a couple of run-throughs to get used to the new music and fully appreciate the lyrics but now I'm all in. It's literally all I've been listening to for the past two weeks.

• Currently watching Kindaichi with Kamenashi playing the lead, and girl, let me tell you~ this is gotta be the worst rendition of Kindaichi to date. I've got nothing against Kame and I've been pretty excited about his new drama with Yamapi + Kaitou Yamaneko has been on my to-watch list for a while actually, but damn this is just cringy. The acting, the script, most of the cast, everything really. Ueno Juri is the only one I can appreciate, but then I'm super biased about her so.

• Last but not least, WE WON EUROVISION!!! You guys have no idea how happy this makes me, it's our first time ever winning this contest and we absolutely deserved it this year (for the first time lmao) + Salvador and Luísa Sobral (our contestant and composer respectively) got the highest score ever in Eurovision history, it was such a beautiful moment. Not to mention how proud I am that we sent a jazz musician to represent us, bless the introduction of the jury on our national selection. I can't remember ever liking a song we sent but this song was music art at its finest and the staging was a perfect fit (I've already talked about it in a previous post though so there won't be any rambling about it here woop). Oh, and I might be attending Salvador's concert in July with a couple of friends which is super cool.

007. Update - visual journal + dreamwidth

Hi guys!

I'm just here to post a couple of doodles I did of Nino's face the other day because it seems like that's all I feel like drawing lately sorry not sorry.

click here for said doodles )

Also, regarding the whole Livejournal issue, I backed up my journal on Dreamwidth a while back just in case and now it seems like everyone's moving there so hmm you can add me at matakyou if you like. I'm not planning on leaving lj but I would hate to lose track of you guys and the fandom in general so move I must (meaning I'm going to start cross-posting lol). Oh, and if any of you use Tumblr, you can find me there as well!

006. UPDATE - Love for us both

Hi there, guys!

It's been a while right? I've been busy with class projects (as usual) and, honestly, there hasn't been much going on in my life besides art school & my rediscovered love for Tomb Raider (I never really stopped loving it shhh). In unrelated news, I'm currently rewatching the first two seasons of River Monsters and *accidentally* skipped sleep last night because of it and am now properly rethinking my life priorities (it's pretty much my sanity VS angling shows at this point hmm). So that's that.

BUT what I really came here to post about is Eurovision. I've been watching the Eurovision contest every year since I can remember, mostly for the kicks but I can get pretty serious about it if the occasion calls for that. And this year really calls for that.

005. update - or yesterday was scary

Hi people!

So: my apartment nearly burnt down yesterday.

Yes, there was a fire over here yesterday and it really scared the living hell out of me.
I live in an old building, though my apartment is basically new since it had a lot of work done before I moved in and stuff. Still, ~old building~ and old buildings sometimes mean old plumbing systems (thankfully not my case) and old electrical systems (sadly my case).
Long story short, there was a pretty nasty short-circuit over here and, at some point, I got stuck inside the apartment with flames right outside my front door.
Not nice guys, not nice.

this is sorta long sorry )

Okay, so that was my amazing tale of woe of the year.
Sorry for making such a long post out of this, I really needed to get it out of my chest, and thanks for sticking with me 'til the end in case you bothered to read all of it ^^

Kisses xx

004.5 update - visual journal + 99.9

Hey guys :)

Quick update on my graphic journal progress:

Eikura Nana / 25.10.16 )

Since I've been watching 99.9 lately (and loving it lots, don't even get me started on Tachibana - I'm crushing so hard help) I turned to it for inspiration. More like marathoned half the drama - details, details - and ended up drawing a scene from the first ep. It looks surprisingly alright considering yesterday was pretty much a NO day for me

004. update - visual journal + art projects

Hi guys!

This year I'm required to keep a visual journal for drawing class yay.
I've always wanted to work on one of those journals but have never gotten around to it. So this year, I finally have a reason to!

I finally got one and am having lots of fun with it + it's a good way to get me to draw regularly. As I'm interested in architecture, portraits and the like, but have 0 creativity regarding anything else, it'll most likely be filled with random sketches of cute people and buildings that catch my attention... none of that edgy/colorful stuff all the cool kids are doing sadly. Prepare to be bored to death.

Anyways, the other day I drew a couple pictures of Toda Erika from KagiHeya (cuz she's hella cute fight me) so I'll leave you with those ^^

Besides this journal affair, I'm working on a big (dimension-wise) anatomy project at the moment as my final for this unit. The theme is "quotidian life and the human body" and - of course - I managed to slip Arashi into it somehow, I can't that their my muses xP

What I'm donna do, basically, is using a picture of Nino (from More - he always looks so good on their photoshoots, like can he not), as a reference for an A2 page spread. I'll be working with charcoal and oil pastels, which I love to the moon and back. I was heavily influenced by Hope Gangloff during the whole planning process, do check her out she's really cool.

I don't have any photos of this one yet but this is the reference I'm using, it's one of my favorite photos of Nino ever - its sober, simple but the warm and homey atmosphere really appeals to me.

Well, that's all folks, I'll be posting updates on these projects whenever possible ^^.

003. update - Kindaichi + drawing classes

Hey guys! How's everyone?

I'm sick atm so I decided to stay at home feeling sorry for myself and marathoning the first seasons of Kindaichi Shonen no Jikenbo. Aah~ I'd nearly forgotten how cute young Tsuyoshi was. Not that he isn't cute now, heck, Tsuyoshi is cute no matter what (shsh I have a soft spot for him sue me) but him playing Kindaichi does rly bad things to my heart.

kindaichi fangirling over here )

In unrelated news, as I've mentioned before, I'm really excited about drawing classes this year, we just got started on my favourite subject -Anatomy- and I'm having a blast!

We're currently taking turns posing for each other and doing quick 5-15 min sketches at a time and it's going really well for me, I feel like I've finally made some real progress since last year.
Our teacher is also so so nice and gives really good criticism and tips!

Anyways I'll leave you guys with a couple of sketches I drew these past few weeks in class, hope everyone has a nice weekend!

PS: I still haven't got any news about my external disk drive and I don't know if that's good or bad...

002. UPDATE - summer

Hey people!

First of all, sorry for my little to no activity on lj lately, I honestly haven't had time to post/comment these past weeks...
I also mentioned before that I had something prepared for Jun's birthday (and for 5x17 too) and I do! The thing is, my external hard drive (where I have all my Arashi-related stuff stored, including my graphics) has been giving me problems lately. I've just left it at a friend's house, hopefully, he'll be able to reformat it or at least recover my files. I worked so hard on that stuff too, cry for me guys (ಥ﹏ಥ)

Anyways how was everyone's summer? You guys should leave me a comment about all the fun things you did if you like, I always enjoy reading about that.

I spent most of it with my cousins and it was really refreshing, we went to the beach a lot and the weather was great most of the time!

I also spent a couple of days over at my brother's apartmetn in a little fishing/surfing village, about two weeks ago, and it was super nice!
We did some fishing, the beach was great and there's this tiny archipelago just off its coast that we visited, which I totally fell in love with. I had so much fun trekking and swimming, the water was so clear and blue (though a bit cold in comparison to my hometown) and there was this 17th century fortress built on top of some rock formation, it looked like something out of a fairy tale.

There are very few people actually living on the main island (the one we visited) because it is a protected area, and the ones who do live there are either fishermen or scientists so it wasn't crowded or anything, 100+ points for that!
I'll include a couple of photos here for reference purposes and maybe later I'll post some of the ones me and my brother took.

and the island )

Hope everyone had fun on their holidays and that you guys who are still in high school/uni had a good year start!
